The IIT's are known for its quality of education and its esteemed entrance examination which selects best from the rest.Enhancing the number of colleges without proper standard will only result in the downfall of global IIT's reputation.

I have no problems with renaming any college as an IIT..but if it is being done without bringing around better infrastructure and autonomy, it is a useless action and may even prove to be harmful when all the IITs (new as well as old) will be treated or "managed" in a similar fashion which might be very different from the present arrangement and which in my view this is inevitable.

Giving new name like HIT is a better solution to than increasing the count of IITs to improve the quality of education in India. It will serve an additional purpose of providing quality and healthy competition among titans.

Business World over the globe identifies India and its intellectual Prowess from IITs and we should not tarnish the very reputation it stands for by creating more IITs. Instead HRD should provide more funds to the other institutes to bring them to the IIT standards.

Dont dilute the Brand name "IIT", which is created over a few decades!!!!!!!!!
This kind of things would decrease the competions amongst the young brains. I strongly support the petition. Kindly do not spoil the brand name

Dear Hon'ble Prime Minister & HRD Minister,
The same institution that has been an REC all these years - how can it get converted overnight into an IIT? What ground level changes have been made in the RECs that they have transformed into IITs?
The very attempt to change the names to IITs speaks of an attempt to capitalize on the brand name that the IITs have painstakingly built over 50 years - to ride on that brand and get mileage in an unfair manner. As suggested in this petition, let them be called HIT and let there be a separate development of the HIT brand.

I whole heartedly concur with the idea of leaving the current IITs alone as they are and creating competitive brand names.

IIT's have a solid reputation and name recognition in the world! Let's keep it that way, rather than dilute it by lack of foresight!!

They are already facing a bad degradation accusation.. the quantities are seriously affecting the quality. Save your recognized institutions.. Get over petty politics for a national cause
