1.Barun Kumar India
Dear PM,
Renaming Mumbai to Shanghai won't make it Shanghai. It will neither be Mumbai nor Shanghai. Please give other institutions autonomy and money and set the targets to them to surpass IITs.

As India finds itself at the cusp of its destiny and prepares itself to embrace the opportunities that lie ahead, let us not limit our imagination to our past sucesses. Countinue to nourish IIT's but it is time for us to create the next generation of world class unicersities. Please create multiple centres of excellenece to give IIT's competition. Instead of diluting a well established brand let us create multiple world class brands.
4.V.Varadarajan-India
Not only should we have competition to IIT in engineering we should have similar schools of excellence in medicine, law and all the professions. If each of them have similar autonomy and funding India will be teaching centre for the world.
10.Subba R. Chavali-USA
Please do not dilute the standards and International reputation of IITs which have been earned after decades of effort put in by the Professors and Alumni of IITs
11.Natraj C Kumar - India
Please do not dilute the standards or the image of IITs by setting up more of these. Instead promote new institutions that would surpass the IIT standards. In this fashion, there would be a healthy competition and preservation of existing goodwill.
12.Tony USA
We need to preserve the quality of the IIT's and keep up the standard.
17.Shishir Nigam -U.S.A
I strongly protest against the high handedness of not just the government representatives, the civil servants who claim to know all, but also the faculty, professors and other misguided intellectuals who played a role in proposing, proliferating and now trying to get this idea to fruition.I also protest against any lack of gathering public opinion on such an emotive issue, which goes against all norms of democracy.
18.R.Ramanan - India
Give competition a chance, we have enough talent to produce 10 IIT like brands in the country
20.Dr.T.N.Vijayanarayana Reddy -India
I wholeheartedly endorse the petition
